The Hoots had a great Christmas season. We didn’t play very many gigs but we put in a lot of time into the ones we did play. Our time was spent learning Christmas songs for the Salem Christmas Program and learning 50’s and 60’s rock and roll for the New Year’s Party at the Salem’s Mahtowa Hall. The Christmas Program was great. We were very appreciative of all the work that Donna, the youth, and the adult actors put in and we were happy to participate. The New Year’s Party was a huge success as well. The Hall was full of people. Great chili was eaten, contests were won, and Jeff and Zach did a heartfelt lip sync routine. I’m sorry if you missed it. Come next year for their sequel.
Another project that we have been working on this winter is a music video to help promote our most recent album. The video is being created with Colleen’s song, “It’s Time to Let it Go.” A local videographer Paul Gregorson is doing the filming. You can see a preview of the video on the Holy Hootenanners facebook page. All of the filming (thus far) took place at Salem. This spring will bring more gigs in new places. We’ll be playing at Faith Lutheran Church in Culver on Jan. 23rd, First Lutheran in Columbia Heights on Feb. 7th, the Third Base Bar in Carlton on Feb. 21st, and Teatro Zuccone in Duluth on March 12th. Teatro Zuccone is a small theater where we’ll be playing with a great bluegrass band called the Roe Family Singers. Tickets will be pre-sold and we would love to see some Mahtowa faces out on the town that night. Thanks for all of your support. -Hoots
